Nyum Jin

Dr. Nyum Jin has directed the public sector reform program of the Kim Dae-jung Administration, first as Chairman of the Planning and Budget Commission and as Minister of Planning and Budget since May 1999. Among his accomplishments are government reorganization and the restructuring of public enterprises and various government-affiliated bodies. He studied economics at Seoul National University and Washington University and has a Ph.D. from Hanyang University. He began his career in civil service in 1963 and served in key economic posts early on in his career. His later appointments included Vice Minister of Finance, Vice Minister of Economic Planning, Minister of Energy and Resources, Minister of Labor, and Chairman of the Kia Group.
